I thought I was pretty clever when I conceptualized that a typical lifetime is broken down into three 25 year increments. First is your "childhood" from age 0 to 25, when you learn the basic skills of living and complete your physical growth. Second is a sort of "tumultuous adulthood" from age 26 to 50, when you become more differentiated from your family of origin and struggle, learn, grow, produce and, in theory, develop into who you were meant to be. And third, there is a final 25 years or maybe ( hopefully) more. Now that you know yourself better and feel more comfortable in your skin you can work, create, love, and learn in your own unique and fulfilling way. Or at least that would be the ideal.
As note, I believed this construct was clever until I found numerous blogs, books, newsletters, and websites for retirees utilizing the concept of a third act. Oh well. I don't care. Because first, this is not a blog about retirement. And second, this is a blog about MY 3rd act, and nobody else's.
It feels very strange creating a public forum to discuss my life. Who am I to think anyone should take time out to read about my adventures or feelings? Nonetheless, as a visitor here, I would only hope that you find something interesting, relateable, and maybe even inspiring.
